Let's say Marvel and DC were to merge universes.

I'm with Nerys Myk. These aren't wrestlers putting on an exhibition, they're crimefighters and rescuers who use their powers to help people. I think The Avengers (the film) got it absolutely right. Tony Stark and Steve Rogers were butting heads incessantly, their personalities clashing, but as soon as people were in danger, they both immediately put that aside and had no trouble working together as a team. And that's what made them heroes. Helping people came first, always, automatically.

And I'm with both of you. In fact, I find it mind boggling that Admiral2 keeps callling Myk's post "triteness," while telling us how great superhero battles are. Does he not realize those have been around (and quickly became a cliche) since at least the days of Timely comics and the Human Torch vs the Sub-mariner?

In the interest of heroes fighting at least these two could have a reasonable excuse.

Holy crap, I just thought of something: Hulk gets ahold of a red lantern ring.

Also, Deadshot and Bullseye have an annual get-together where they have a couple minutes to kill each other. They then shake hands and part amicably.

Oh dear. The universe is doomed. That does make me think about what other Marvel characters might find themselves with rings, though. Surely Doctor Doom would find out about the orange light and try to acquire it of himself. Could you imagine Sinestro Corps Galactus? I mean, Sinestro managed to recruit the Anti-Monitor. Galactus isn't too far of a stretch. Spider-Man seems an incredibly obvious choice for a blue ring.

I'd think Captain Marvel would interact more with Thor and the Asgardians, being powered by "brother" Gods and all that. I think Thor has actually battled some of the Gods The Marvels are powered by.

So would DC's Hercules and Marvel's Hercules be the same person?

Good question. I'm tempted to say that in a situation like this that they would merge into one person. But they're still different versions of the same man (or God, whatever the case is). So maybe there would be two different versions of the same person.

Well, the Marvel Hercules is a far more heroic guy than the DC Hercules (who was a rapist, IIRC).

I'd think that several DC cities would end up becoming real cities in the merged world. Gotham would become Chicago (where Nolan filmed his movies), for example.

The space of the merged world would become a bloodbath, what with the Green Lantern Corps having to battle Galactus, the Celestials, the Skrull/Kree/Shi'ar Empires (who are fully capable of fighting the GLCs).

Heck, the Marvel Space Empires will be battle the Khunds, Dominators, etc. I wonder what the future version of the Legion of Superheroes will be like then. Will Apocalypse be one of their villains too?

Namor constantly battle Aquaman for the Throne of Atlantis?

Loki going to off to have weekend Poker with Darkseid?

Heck, in the real Greek myths, you weren't much of a manly heroic type if you weren't a rapist.

And Nolan aside, Gotham has traditionally been depicted as an East Coast city. It is, of course, named after a nickname for New York City. The '90s Atlas of the DC Universe put it in New Jersey.

Also, Nolan hasn't only used Chicago to represent Gotham. In The Dark Knight Rises, New York City and Pittsburgh were used instead.

Rape was only a property crime back then. Since the Amazons were not married, what Hercules did was not considered wrong.

They could go with the idea that there are two pantheons: One Greek and One Roman. So the heroic Herc would be Greek and the rapist Herc would be Roman.

I doubt they'd give up Gotham and Metropolis, they're too closely identified with Batman and Superman.

For someone like Galactus or the Celestials, I'd suspect the Guardians would have a hands off policy. Which would probably piss off Hal. DCU is already crawling with Empires similar to the Kree and Skrulls. The GLC and the Guardians tends to give them a pass, so I think they'd do the same for the Kree, the Skrulls and the Shi'ar.

Other than seeing Marvel aliens as possible members I don't think the LSH would change that much.

Namor's grandfather was an Emperor, Aquaman would probably be his vassal.

Except, like I said, the Greeks are the ones who wouldn't have thought there was anything wrong with rape. Heck, it made you more like Zeus!

Well, the Romans weren't exactly ethical by our standards either.

No worries, it just a comic book take on the Gods. They don't have conform to the ethics of the actual societies. Marvel's Thor isn't exactly a historical Viking socially or ethically, either.

Yeah, I don't think the Mythological Thor looked like Fabio.
