At some point, do you just say "Peyton, Tulowitzki, and Batman, get the hell out. I need some sleep"??

Ben Sheets is on fire. 3-0 with a 0.50 ERA over 18 innings. I'm halfway convinced he sold his soul to the devil.

The Bravos are all wearing high socks tonight trying to break the Monday curse. I love it.

The A's had a promotion called "Come for the game, Stay for the Pie" tonight with $11 tickets. That promotion took on a literal sense.

It was still an awesome MLB Promotion.

So far the Cubs have traded:

    - Soto to the Rangers foir minor league pitcher Jacob Brigham and a player to be named later or cash.
    - Maholm & Johnson to the Braves for right-handed pitchers Arodys Vizcaino, a top prospect who had season-ending Tommy John surgery in April, and Jaye Chapman to the Cubs. The Braves also got cash in the deal.

The Dodgers are still interested in Dempster, but after acquiring Shane Victorino from the Phillies, may no longer need Soriano.

As a Braves fan I like the Maholm deal and we get a guy in Johnson that rakes left handed pitching, which the Braves really need. Maholm also adds another lefty to the rotation. I like Dempster but didn't want to give up Delgado for a two month rental especially if he would be wishing he was in L.A. the whole time.

I'm new but I think you and me are going to get along just fine. After watching Ben Sheets prove he isn't a fluke I started thinking of all these other pitchers out there waiting for a call. Hey, does anybody know what Brandon Webb is doing these days?

Not a Braves fan here, but I love the high sock look. Looking like a ball player beats the pajama look any day of the week.

Chicago and Detroit reporters are saying that the Cubs and Tigers are trying desperately to put together a deal for Soriano, but they've hit a roadblock on making the money work (Dave Kaplan says that the Cubs are willing to eat everything left this year, but they don't want to pay for Soriano to play elsewhere for two more years).

I've just been hitting refresh on mlbtraderumors throughout the day. Quite a busy afternoon. Of interest, Gaby Sanchez to the Pirates. This guy was hitting about 19 home runs a year for the Marlins and then hit .202 this year ending up in AAA. Maybe he can turn it around and be a driving force to the Bucs miracle season.

Apparently, the Dodgers weren't willing to part with a high end prospect for a rental either.

Dempster has been traded to Texas for third baseman Christian Villanueva and right-handed pitcher Kyle Hendricks, both from high-Class A Myrtle Beach.

Not sure how high they rank in the Rangers' farm system.

Hmm, two Mets fans have posted "I'm no Braves fan, but..." like I don't already know! :p

Going to St. Louis and Chicago tomorrow.. can't make it to watch the game at Wrigley, most likely. I am going to drive near all three stadiums though. I do plan on catching games at Fenway and Citizens Bank Park next week.

I hate Red Sox nation but I have to admit that a game in Fenway true baseball fan experience.

What did you think of Medlan's return to the rotation last night? With Tommy on the DL he might get a few more starts. He looked sharp. His changeup is killing guys at the plate.

I've always been real high on Medlen. He's always been good when he's healthy. He would probably be the #2 guy in the rotation if he hadn't had elbow surgery a couple of years ago. He's also very fast and a decent hitter. I hope they get a couple of more good games out of him.

Busch Stadium looks very nice from the outside. It looks so out of place downtown though. Everything around it is rusted and covered in graffiti and crumbling while this trillion dollar stadium sits in the middle.

It's awesome on the inside as well. :techman:

Unfortunately that big development deal fell through. Now they just got this lameass softball field right next to it (where Busch II used to be).

Medlan had great success as a starter prior to injury. We seem to have a time keeping good pitchers off the DL. It's a miracle they have the record they do with Beachy going down and JJ struggling so much. Ben Sheets was a Godsend.

I appreciate the player that pulls off the high sock look, but I have no problem with them normally being an exception that stands out (it's often pitchers, for some reason).

I always liked the high-sock look. It just appeals to me because it strikes me as oldschool.
