The pose and lighting in the new poster is almost exactly the same as an image Alex Ross painted of Superman for Kingdom Come.

I'm ashamed of the fan community for such a horrible quality capture of the teaser. It looks like the guy filming was 6 miles away!

    Audio was flawless tho...

I hate the new costume. Looks like fish scales. Would work better for Aquaman, but they'd probably just put him in a speedo and call it good.

Seriously, can we just stop with the goofy textured costume crap?

Superman, the flying basket ball. But he's in good company, Catwoman and Spider-Man are using basket balls for their suits as well.

Agreed. It's the very familiar "me too-ism" all over again. Something works for someone and they all think it can work for anything.

It wouldn't be as bad if the S wasn't textured as well.

Catwoman, and to a lesser extent Spiderman, having costumes that look like they incorporate a type of body armor makes at least a little bit of sense...being as they aren't invulnerable aliens and all.

While those other characters have texture on their costumes they are not nearly as
pronounced as this. Also the lighting and close up shot was chosen to emphasize it even more. I don't like this at all.

Krypton is going to have a sci-fi neo-medieval look to it. The costume is meant to evoke that sensibility and bring to mind chainmail.

    Fish scales, nah.

    Knitted rubber, or a car's floor-mat.

I'm seeing chainmail, too, more than fish scales. Perhaps the idea is that his suit needs to be as invulnerable as he is, for all the days he's saving, lest it get punctured, torn, burned off, etc.

I suspect Krypton will appear like it has in Grant Morrison's Action Comics...basically how Out of My Vulcan Mind described it.

Actually, I think the spread of HD tv has a lot to do with the proliferation of these textured costumes in superhero movies.

Sorry, but I like the texture. Makes the costumes look much more real and believable than the simple, plain costumes used back in the day. Superheroes can't be walking around in thin tights anymore on the big screen.

The only alternatives are either segmented armor like Batman, leather uniforms like the X-Men, or the thick wetsuit look of SR. And people sure didn't seem crazy about that last one very much. Lol

I think the key is seeing how this uniform looks on the big screen. Initially, I didn't like the costume when I saw the first picture of Henry Cavill. But it's grown on me, and the costume looks just fine in the poster, IMHO.

But all that matters is how it looks when he's flying around on the big screen.

That also makes sense- He might be indestructible, but his suit isn't. Or, more accurately, shouldn't be.

I was kind of blown away by the Man of Steel Comic-Con trailer.

I thought it was simply beautiful. The first half of the trailer doesn't even seem like Zack Snyder at all. The footage seems like an incredible combination of Terrence Malick and Christopher Nolan. Hans Zimmer's "Journey to the Line" music from The Thin Red Line made everything that much more resonant.

The second half is more typical Snyder to a degree, but even that is more subdued and not as over-the-top as his usual stuff. Which I think is awesome. The fact that everything is naturalistic will make the iconic Superman shots (such as him walking presumably out of the Fortress) that much more epic and grandiose.

Even from this brief 2 minute trailer, everyone seems on top form. Henry Cavill, Russell Crowe, Kevin Costner, etc., they all seem like they are nailing their parts. Cavill looks particularly regal and majestic as Superman. It looks like he's going to do a wonderful job. Honestly, I was kind of skeptical about Man of Steel given Snyder's involvement, but after watching this trailer - even in crappy quality - I'm considerably more convinced. In fact, I'm downright excited.

Well, I'm just hoping that my sneak showing of TDKR in a few days has this trailer. Otherwise I'll have to wait for a quality site to post it online.
