I don't think it is, I've tried being at the right spot at different times and nothing changes, the damned dog is just not there!
Someone even posted that even if you don't get the quest from a guy in Falkreath, if you happen to be walking around carrying some raw meat with you, it's the dog that will find -you-...
Maybe I just waited too long from the time I got the quest to the time I actually showed up to find the dog, I don't know, maybe a dragon just ate him while he was flying by...

Anyway, I finished the game today, and man, what a ride! I loved every minute of it.

I won't be getting that either but in my case it's because for me, the Waking Nightmare quest is bugged, with Erandur appearing in an inaccessible part of the dungeon when we walk through the first door.

When I first started playing, I liked this game. Now, not so much. Playing on a PS3 is bad enough with all the freezes, crashes, corrupted saves and all the other nastiness PS3 users are experiencing. Factor in the, in my view, really craptastic character design which I was unaware of not playing previous titles and yeah, my enthusiasm is fading fast.

I had no clue going in that you couldn't play a class-based character and if you wished to continue to level up, you eventually had to completely switch over. I thought I'd play a light armour, one-handed weapon type using destruction and conjuration magic. Nope. Can't gain any more XP that way. Now I have to switch to heavy armour and two-handed weapons or blocking with a shield while using the other schools of magic.

My sessions now... find some baddies, shield in one hand, healing in the other, block, block, let 'em hit me a few times, heal, repeat. And one hour of gaming is actually 15 minutes of gaming and 45 of freezing, rebooting, re-playing things I just did because the saves corrupted.

J.E. Sawyer of Obsidian recently commented on the issues with larger save files that New Vegas and Skyrim had on PS3, with the console having a split memory. If developers can't come up with a fix for that or Sony can't make a system that run those types of games better... well, I wish I'd never switched over from PC gaming.

I have a question regarding the Thieves Guild missions. From what I hear you need the original thieves armor to get all the Thieves Guild trophies (or achievements).
The problem is, I didn't know about this beforehand so I sold some of it. Anyway, based on some of the info I found online, Tonilia only replaces one piece of the armor. So I just wanted to know if one piece of armor (I still have two) is enough to get past that part or not.

I think you should be fine. And down the line you'll get two Thieves' Guild armor sets that are superior to the original set.

^ I don't really care about the armor itself (though getting new armor is always useful). I just wanna make sure I'll be able to do all the Thieves Guild quests.

    Thanks for the info.

I'm alright there. Not a big fan of cheese wheels. Not a big fan of freezes, random crashes or black screens with music in the background either. $60 to beta test is fun. And instead of pissing about with bookshelves maybe Bethesda could fix the broken quests. That would be nice.

It's nice to know that Skyrim is a Bethesda game through and through. :p

As for Skyrim on the PC, I found it to be QUITE stable, the only bug I have encountered was a dragon flying backwards....

On the PC, I have a bug where every time I exit Whiterun to go grab my horse from the stables, there are two Louis Letrushs standing nearby. Well, I say standing. One of them is embedded in the ground up to his waist.

Not sure if this would happen anywhere else, but apparently Louis is generally a bit buggy.

I have actually had ZERO game-breaking bugs on the xbox. A few odd 'anomalies', but extremely rare and certainly nothing to justify all the rage that's been going out, or to cancel out the extreme greatness of the game.

^ Yeah I'm playing this on the PS3 and so far I haven't really had any major issues either. I'm now about 70 hours into the game and my save is at about 9MB.

Doesn't sound like game machine players have much to worry about. As others have mentioned, it appears as if this game was originally tailored for consoles and given a half-assed buggy port to PC. Sad to say, but it looks like PC domination of the gaming industry has come to a quiet end.

Fair enough, but I think that's more in spite of game designers' attempts at focusing on game consoles than because of it. It's no secret that that's the way a lot of them are going. See my original post about Star Trek: Legacy. I'm not saying it's necessarily a bad thing, just what I've seen when games are compared between platforms. The PC always seems to earn the most ire, with bad game control and buggy releases.

You can't really blame the devs- they just make so much more money off the console releases than the PC releases. No-one will be making any games if their companies go belly-up. If developing for console is what they have to do to stay afloat, then that is what they must, and should, do.
