Actually, NCC-1712 belongs to the Bonhomme Richard, schematics of which do exist: http://www.shipschematics.net/startrek/images/federation/heavycruiser_bonhommerichrd.jpg.
I think that the Bonhomme Richard is important enough to the point that she not be contradicted in this version of the timeline. There would be a version of the Bonhomme Richard, only she like the Enterprise would be different.

I would do one of two things: go with Proxima, but also go with the registry given to her in the Star Fleet Technical Manuel, which is, as I listed: NCC-1737. Given that she belonged to the Achernar sub-class, which was a slightly improved version of the Constitution class, this would make some sense that the Proxima also belongs to a sort of uprated version in this version of the timeline as well. I too like the name Proxima, so I would just go with that, as well as her original registry, to refer to the original timeline.

Or you could make this the Bonhomme Richard of the AU. This too could make sense, since the Bonhomme Richard was another sub-class of the Constitution, basically an improved version of the Constitution class.

Thanks... I think I'll go ahead with 1737 then, from the Tech Manual. :)

Didn't make it to changing the name yet, since I got distracted by the engines again.

We've got new dome clamps/covers, now...

What do y'all think? I think it evokes the refit nacelles a little, while staying mostly the same...

You're quite welcome. And thank you for going with the information from the Tech Manual. Being a fan of the term "the more things change, the more they stay the same", I find it important that most ships and their registries stay the same, even though their appearance changes.

The new nacelle dome clamps are almost instantly recognizable as being influenced by the Refit.

I can see that you also added another torpedo launcher to the neck assembly. I would still like to see a torpedo tube or two above the lower sensor dome, seeing as how the original Enterprise had them there (that, and they are hard to cripple in that location).

I'm wondering if we are looking at an alternate version of the Phase II Constitution, or just a variation, like your Defiant, for testing new technologies. I was starting to think this might even possibly be a version of the 2265 Constitution class, until I remembered that only the later variants (I believe starting with the Endeavor) have integrated navigational deflectors, as opposed to dishes.

Wrong direction. The previous iteration is better.

Yep, I feel the same way, about consistency. If it was listed somewhere as being a certain registry number, no need to change it. :)

I'm starting to think that it's just a later build than Enterprise, so it's going to have a few new systems in place, either because of upgrades/fixes, or just different manufacturers getting contracts. :)

    Hmm. Care to elaborate? :D

Interesting... hadn't thought about it like that. Is that good or bad? :)

The simplicity of the prior version

*the single torpedo launcher was graceful (and an interesting shift from TMP-E)
*the nacelle cap-grilles now make the design look busy - the tapering cat-eyes adds even more angles to a ship that already has plenty; it might create an aesthetically
ungainly distortion of perspective when we view the ship from certain angles; it's obscuring your cool nacelle cap design.

OK, I see what you're saying. :) I might try to merge the two ideas together, and see how it works out...

About the torpedo tubes, though, that was the plan all along....

Nothing says you can't have three tubes. Two smaller ones above and to either side of a large central tube. (Zeus type)

hmm.... I dunno, the "nipple" in the front of the nacelle cap is one of those things that I never quite liked on the JJ-prise. I'm personally quite fond of just having the single thin "brace" running up the front. still, I like the design, and it is of course your build, so I have no real say in the matter ;) keep up the good work! :)

This is a vast improvement over the original. I don't dislike it. However, I still think the bussard thingys a too dang big.

Moving the nacelles further apart is a major improvement.

Still hideous, but less of an abomination. :D
