I could have sworn in 2009-2010 that the news was there was going to be a new MenInBlack. But I haven't seen any commericals. I actually watched the superbowl to see if it would come on there but nothing. I don't know what sites are good or bad, as seen in my Atlantis movie thread. Is it canceled? On hold?
It's being made but there's been some setbacks Set photos from November http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=71737 Emma Thompson plays "Oh" the new head of MIB Hmm judging by Smith's hair and mustache he looks like he's reverted to his 90's look. The hair's higher like most black males had before it became more contemporary in the 2000's to keep it real short Men in black 2 It's just the sign of the times that hairstyles get shorter and shorter
See, there's this search engine web site called "Google", where the second hit for "men black 3" is a relevant Reuters article less than a month old...
Yeah there were numerous script problems that at one point had Tommy Lee Jone reportedly asking what is happening in this movie (Paraphrasing).
There still are script problems; filming shut down a few months ago so they could rewrite half the damn thing.
You obviously didn't read my full post. I said I didn't know what websites to trust. I even gave an example. So in order to get that example I must haved used Google. I mean I wouldn't be on trekbbs hadn't I used Google. I'm not a complete dumby.
I follow cinemablend, comingsoon, and Collider. They're mostly trustworthy as far as reporting news goes. They cover a lot of rumors as well of course.
With all these script problems, is there a chance it could even be worse than MiB2? I still wish Elle (Linda Fiorentino) would make a return appearance...
After what happened in BB2. The constant swearing, gore. Will Smith said he would never do that again becuase he didn't want his children to see what he had done. So it wouldn't be Will Smith in it. Martin Lawerence would probably go for it, but with out Will Smith in it, it just wouldn't be the same.
There is always a chance it could be worse than MI2 which I didn't really like that much (and yes I too wish that Elle came back...I seem to remember that there were problems with Linda on the set of the first movie which is why her character was not included in the sequel. I also seem to remember Kevin Smith saying similar things about her in the Dogma commentary).
Reuters, along with the AP, is one of the most widely-published news agencies in the world. If they do an article, odds are that the basic facts and thrust are correct.
I didn't mind MIB 2. Granted, the story was terrible and too campy for it's own good (Zed jumping and doing this kicks - wtf?!). But I was entertained and there were some generally really funny stuff in there (Frank had me rolling in every scene - then again, I am a sucker for a talking dog). That being said, I'm dubious about MIB 3, especially after all this time. At least it isn't a reboot, right?
It's not a reboot, there is a strong time travel element the script. I believe that there are younger versions of K and O (Emma Thompson) that we meet in the past. I had a glimpse at one of the early drafts of the script and suffice it to say didn't read past page ten. I'm not really anticipating this film as much as others might be. There also have been cast drop outs I believe as well. Betty White was at one time attached to this project, or at least rumored to be. I can't remember which now.
The original Men in Black is essentially that generation's Ghostbusters. It was a brilliant comedy with an excellent blend of special effects and went whole-hog with its concept. Having re-watched it just recently, it holds up incredibly well. Script, direction, acting, scoring, editing -- it's really a very well put-together movie. But, like Ghostbusters, it's a movie that was not desperately crying out for a sequel. There was no story begging to be told, and as a result we got a lackluster sequel made simply because Columbia wanted to score some more bucks from a property that worked well the first time and so it parked dumptrucks of cash in front of the three principals and said, "Make another one." And now this third one is just looking like it's going to be an abortion. Tommy Lee Jones has no idea what the hell's going on (and I believe Josh Brolin hasn't even begun shooting his stuff yet, because they only shot the present-day material before production was halted and the script went into emergency rewrite mode), and with the parade of writers (I think Etan Cohen, David Koepp, Jeff Nathanson and now Will Smith's private bobo have all had cracks at the script), it seems like it'll just be a hodgepodge of ... crap. Again, it's a movie being made for, well, the sake of being made, not because Sonnenfeld had a great idea to bring everyone back together.
