After rescuing Winston, Chance vows to retire as a bodyguard rather than further put his friends at risk. However, Ilsa Pucci, a billionaire philanthropist, asks for his help after the death of her husband, and a mysterious thief from Winston's past is involved.

While I generally liked the first season, it had some ups and downs (the ups being anything related to Chance's backstory and Baptiste, the downs being some very inconsistent quality standalone stories).

This episode was about as decent as a reboot of the show could be. Not great, but it did its job to introduce the new characters and the new status quo. New characters aside, the writers seem to have figuratively turned up the volume on Guerrero which was a plus in my book. And of course, Vancouver got to stand in not only for San Francisco but also Geneva...and fail miserably in doing so, just like in the first season.

Finally, the new theme SUCKED. What happened to Bear McCreary's fantastic theme from the first season? The rest of the show suffered without his music too. :(

Looking forward to seeing more and keeping my fingers crossed that FOX and the new showrunners don't interfere too much with what makes the show fun.

I'v read some months ago, while I watched the first series in a week for the first time, that the new showrunners wanted to make the series more action orientated. Let's see how that goes.

I agree, it is missed dearly.

Anyway, it was an okay episode and I am eager to find out, how they get Indira Varma to show up, especially since her character claims to be the "invisible owner".

I guess the "ring switching girl" will be back too, otherwise they wouldn't have spent that much time with here.

Though Simba's character Carmine didn't show up in the newly renovated office. What does that mean?

They sure wrapped up the cliffhanger really fast, although in the process they seemed to have completely dropped the Joubert (Armand Assante) stuff. I wonder if that means Baptiste is gone too?

The thief character is going to be back in a recurring capacity.

Wow. That new theme song was absolutely *awful*. The episode was just okay. I hope it's not an indication of what the season's going to be like; if it is, then it's taking a turn to the mediocre.

Seems a lot of fans are upset about the removal of McCreary. Really says a lot about him as a composer, doesn't it? Work really stands out in the usually generic world of TV music.

    - Hate the new theme. When I heard they were getting rid of Bear McCreary, I was afraid we'd lose the theme and sure enough we did.

    - I agree on the resolution of the cliffhanger. It was wrapped up pretty quickly. Remided me of the second season premiere of Martial Law.

    - I knew the scummy lawyer was the bad guy about half a second after I first saw him.

    - I like the addition of the billionaire who's bankrolling everything. I wasn't too thrilled with the idea when I heard about her a few months ago, but she seems to be working out well.

    - I also like the addition of that thief.

Just watched it. It's like they've focus-grouped the hell out of the show.

The new showrunner is some guy who used to be on Chuck. So that would explain why the scene of Guerrero driving had such crappy bluescreen. :p

Here's the new opening for anyone else who was just looking in to the thread and was curious about the horror of it all.

Seriously? You do or don't watch a TV show based on a 30 second opening theme? :wtf:

Yeah, I really don't care about the theme change. It's the content of the show I enjoy (or not).
So far, no complaints about the changes. We'll see how it goes...

    In this case, yes.
Bear's score was what made season 1 such a fresh experience for me. The full orchestra breathed life into the show and solidified the show as a 'weekly action movie' instead of just another good action show.

I was hoping they would at least keep the theme, and do generic score for the rest of the show. I think I'll watch it again all the way through . . . I was a bit put off by the absence of the theme, and the halfassed mishmash of the new one, so I think I'll enjoy it a little better if I watch it with a different mindset.
For me the music was almost one of the main characters. Imagine if they re-cast Craig Robinson as Winston instead of Chi McBride :P

    Well . . . ok. :wtf:

I'm guessing you must have been kind of "meh" about the show in the first place.

It won't be long before there are no themes at all. Castle's, for example, is maybe 5-10 seconds with a quick animated logo, and that doesn't show up till the end of act 1!

Hmm, the season two premier scored the lowest ratings so far for the show, but Fox announced that it is giving it a post-American Idol slot.

Going to be interesting to see how that goes.

The new theme wasn't as bad as I expected though it wasn't great either. It's no big deal because the first season theme didn't do much for me either.
