Come to think of it watching Shatner being ROOSTED would be pretty funny to see.

Seeing him roosted sounds uncomfortable and possibly painful.

The roast, however, well... That was painful too.

If it's the repugnant one I saw produced by Comedy Central, I changed the channel about 15 minutes in.

When it first came out a few years ago I slaved through the whole thing out of curioisty... God it was terrible. I know roasts are supposed to be some-what mean spirited and such, nor am I prude, but it was just too much vulgar sexual humor and inuendo. I would've prefered more "smarter" humor, I guess. And I really could've done without Andy Dick.

It's just been rerun in the UK by Channel 4, to accompany their attempt to launch the 'Roast' format in Britain (the three roastees were Bruce Forsyth, Sharon Osbourne and Chris Tarrant. Americans will probably need to check wikipedia to find out who two of these are...). it has been run in the UK before, somewhere...

I fear I'm going to sound like a grammar Nazi here, but come on, a little punctuation isn't difficult. You're on a message board, not writing a text message. I feel like my brain is going to run out of breath whilst trying to read your posts.

    And it's a roast, not a roost.

I found it absolutely hilarious, but to each their own I suppose. I also can have a lowbrow sense of humour at times. However, I'm not sure roasts are necessarily about smart humour, just about crude insults (but affectionately crude insults--Shatner appeared to be enjoying himself).

I will concede though, that Andy Dick may have been just a mite too much.

I'm patenting the name Comedy Roost. It'll come in handy when I open a comedy club in my attic. Or a tree.

The Comedy Central roast of William Shatner was crass, vulgar, offensive and disgusting.....

and I almost died laughing. Lisa Lampenelli is hilarious.

"Betty White is so old, she used to be black but she faded. She is so old that when she was a contestant on a gameshow the grand price was fire!"

I've noticed that these roasts though usually involve people that have had no real prior interaction with the roastee.

I remember the one where Chevy Chase was roasted. He looked confused as to who some of the people were and very annoyed at the comments.

Shatner alluded to this when he took the stage.. something to the effect of, "Who are you people? Dont you know who I am.. I'm William Tiberius Shatner!"

No idea that this aired, but I'm always down for a good roost so I'm going to try to youtube this or something. I can see people being pretty brutal and honest with The Shat, so that could prove hilarious to watch.

Loved the Comedy Central Shatner roast - "No, George, you may not suck my dick." And Betty White's account of sex with Shatner...

I said it to Takei and I'll say it again: George gave as good as he got :)

The nice thing about this roast vs. the Chevy Chase roast is that Shatner did indeed have friends and fans there, whereas Chase really didn't. After all, that's the whole point to it; you get roasted by the ones you love. Now, I'm not saying the whole lineup were his friends (I'm seriously annoyed that Comedy Central has a regular lineup of roasters -- again, let's stick to the original premise), but I love that each Trek show, save for Enterprise suspiciously, was represented. Also, the look on Rene Auberjonois' face every time a dirty joke was told is priceless.

Plus, Princess Leia was there. I love a good ST/SW crossover!

Wasn't Scott Bakula in the audience? Or was that a different "roost" where I saw him?
