Could be a lighting thing, the Rubies pics look a bit dark to me... and my pics were taken when the sun was way too bright for my liking.

I'll try another on the morning... maybe it'll be more honest - but it does seem a bit darker in person (though not too much). Same with the Command, it looked a lot less bright on me.

Sorry about bumping this thread, but considering this one already existed, I didn't see a need to start a new one.

I was debating on buying the gold shirt for Halloween this year and I was wondering what seems to be the final word on the costumes.

Also, I was wondering what, if any, is the difference between the regular, the deluxe, and the grand heritage versions, other than price. The thing that I also wonder about is that the pictures are mixed and matched for various websites. For example, the regular uniform linked above is the picture for the deluxe here.

^ no postcard - no Tees! Grrr!

I'm just going to have to pull the old blue TOS mini out of the closet. (Son runs away in shame . . . he was my movie date - hubs wouldn't go - can you beleive the noive - and I was the only one in the theater dressed for fun! what a good kid - but I'm not sure he wants a repeat unless it's actually Hallowe'en!)

Any idea what kind of boots were used in the film?

I can't answer that, but I plan on using a pair of black rubber wading boots that you can get at Wal-Mart for about $20

It's difficult to tell on the internet with seemingly one set of pics being used...

From what I've read from some descriptions, the grand heritage seems to have a rubber or metal pin sewn on - while the deluxe one I have has an embroidered pin.

I'm sure there are more differences - maybe in the braids as the deluxe version braids quite poor (I just replaced them) and the basic one... no idea.

I used my wrestling boots as a temporary fix - but I've ordered biker boots that look similar for next time out.

I have the deluxe version too, and the emblem is the most disappointing thing to me. What looks like shadow and dimension in the pictures in the ads is really just a black thread outline inside the patch. It's awful. I'm going to try to trace over it with a silver marker of some kind. It will only be an improvement.
If I thought the emblem was better on the heritage version, I'd be pissed I bought the deluxe one already. But it looks the same as the deluxe version to me. And for the most part, they are described the same. If the version had a truly better emblem, I'd think they'd really be touting that.

As it is, I think one is really just paying more for two shirts instead of one. For what it's worth, if I wanted to take the dickie off of what I have, the Halloween store at the mall has the black shirt Kirk wore in the movie. The cost of it and the shirt I have would be less than the price of the heritage version -- even at its reduced price on some sites.

I did the same with the dickie, though I have a shirt that matches the Kirk version but it only cost me less than £4. A bit of ribbon did for the missing detail and braids. Easy enough.

I've read on one site (honestly can't remember where) that the Heritage had a pin for the emblem. I wouldn't trust that until I see it in person though...

For the emblem on the deluxe - I found one on eBay, but it was the command version. I've got blue so still hunting out the science one.

I read the Heritage "pin" description on a site, too. I think they also called it a communicator, so I'll take the description with a grain of salt. On the site from which I ordered my Deluxe, they give the exact same description of the emblem on the Heritage that they do for the Deluxe.

I don't know if should get too mixed up in details, though, since this Halloween I'm going to be wearing the tunic over a gorilla suit I have. Honest. I am. I've had the suit a while. Last year, the gorilla was a baseball player. Too bad the suit isn't white, or I could claim to be the first Mugato in Starfleet. :)

Then again, making it as authentic as it can be to wear otherwise would be nice. After all, as I keep reminding my wife, it's a uniform, not a costume. ;)

I would, ut 'm either going as classic Kirk with a ripped shirt and blood... or I may finish my BSG uniform. Which I'm only making if I can bleach my beard white and find an eyepatch.

Do you all think we should start a new thread to post hallowe'en pix now and invite pix from the past or wait until closer to then? I'm of a mind to start one now to help inspire people who might be a little stuck.
