Earlier this evening I watched My Name Is Bruce on Blu Ray. In a word, it was groovy.

With a budget of either $1.5 million or $5 million, depending on which behind-the-scenes featurette claim you believe, this movie has everything that I love about Bruce Campbell -- and more.

If only the movie-within-a-movie, Cavealiens 2, were actually being produced.

How would you rank it on a scale from 1-10?

    (1-The Man with the Screaming Brain/ 10- Bubba Ho-Tep)

A friend of mine was doing promotion work for the film in the bay area so I got to go to the screening and meet him a few months ago. Pretty terrible, but also disturbingly watchable. I can't really encourage anyone to seek it out though unless they're a hardcore BC fan.

If you're a Bruce Campbell fan, then I'd rate it an 8 or 9. If not, then... something lower.

Me, I'm a Bruce Campbell fan, so I liked this movie a lot.

I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. It clearly had zero budget but it was relatively funny. The monster looked stupid as hell but I loved his sound effects!

It was quite good. Bruce is very good in it and it has some really funny moments.

It's considerably better than the other low budget feature he directed himself "The Man with the Screaming Brain", it's not nonsensical for a start it's actually pretty conventional and straightforward but just fails to hit the mark in a number of areas, such as effects and dialogue. He has tried to direct it like a Sam Raimi movie IMO, but he's not as good as Sam.

Still, Bruce fans will certainly find something to enjoy in it.

I saw this at one of his screening events last year. He said that Cavealiens was in reference to Alien Apocalypse, so you sort of get your wish. ;)

I loved the film, but I'm very biased. I would place it in the top tier of actual Bruce movies, below the Evil Deads but well above Alien Apocalypse (which I actually sort of liked :alienblush:) and waaay above Man with the Screaming Brain (which I only made it through out of reverence for The Bruce).

Brain was awful -- awful enough that I was hesitant at first to watch My Name Is Bruce. I'm glad that I decided to give it a try!

I was afraid from some reviews that I wasn't going to like it, but since Pingfah and flamingliberal give it the thumbs-up, I feel a lot better about it and will get my hands on the DVD ASAP.

The movie is cool. It's full of great one-liners to make Army of Darkness fans proud. Many of the actors played in past Campbell flicks, too. Ted Raimi has three roles.

I feel so fucking powerful right now. Perhaps I should capitalize on this. I believe I will write to my Senators regarding my opinion on health care reform.

Make sure they're fans of The Bruce, first.

(If they're not, then I hope you didn't vote for them.)

I've been looking forward to this! If it's got Bruce than it has to be at least watchable!

I've had Bruce Campbell as my avatar for 5 years and even I don't know if I'll ever get around to watching this.

I thought is was decent, but if not for my like of Bruce Campbell I would not have made it all the way through. It certainly doesn't have the fun of the Evil Dead series, but then again it's better than most of the crap he's made.

I like Bruce a lot. I've got five or so of his films and also his two books. Even I can't sit through some of the crap he's in, so I'm not obssessed.

Any Bruce Campbell fan knows the best thing about his is his charm and personality. He revels in his B-actor persona, and has a hell of a lot of fun making these movies, and it just radiates to the audience. My Name is Bruce has it's flaws, but Campbell is great in this, and he's backed up by a decent premise and some funny moments. It's not as good as the ED films or Bubba Ho-tep, but is a lot better than most everything else.

I would also never reccomend this to a non-bruce fan. This is clearly a movie for the fans, and I suspect most of the charm and inside gags would be lost on them.

btw, I really loved the use of the cardboard cutout at the end:lol:

I just saw this film last night. It was ok, kind of lame, but ok.
