Yeah, right at the end. They said they weren't sure if the senator was involved too.

    Next week looks awesome.

This season is far and above better than last.

That was a pretty good installment and one of the best episodes of 24 in a long time.

There was just something nifty about the Tony and Jack talk on the steps of the Capitol (or outside it) in the "cover of twilight."

Which was kind of ruined knowing that Jack is making Tony turn himself in.

You noticed that too? I thoguht it was a very nice bit of continuity, giving us a chacne to see the daytime turn to night. Plust the two of them livin lives that are mostly in shadow.. very symbolic imho

Yeah, that's the feeling I got from it too. It was nicely directed and framed too and the two were almost talking in a manner that suggested they were trying to talk to each other without looking like they were talking to each other.

    Very well done scene.

They flew through the standard 24 cliches this week much faster than they usually would. The police let Bauer and Walker go within minutes. The scorned lover died quickly, rather than having a whole episode of pretending to still love him. Jack knew the (magic auto-erasing) chip would be under Dubaku's skin due to his season 2 training, and then one mole killed the other mole. I was mildly surprised that they immediately caught Shawn, rather than letting him Evilly Scheme more and go after Chloe or another darkened mainframe room.

Thank President Palmer they didn't drag out "we have to find the list" for 8 episodes, and once they found the list thank him again that it wasn't "we have to decode it!" or "damn it, it's erased so we have to recover it!" or worse... "it was all for nothing so we need a new lead out of nowhere!" a la the Miles dude erasing The Recording in S5.

I'd give the first 3/4 a below average for being predictable and pretty dull, other than the cool car chase. Then it got great at the end with Jack getting slapped and almost having a real conversation with Walker. They're milking that story, I'm sure he'll eventually admit to his pain somewhere down the road.

And finally Tony is back to set up the REAL plot of the season. Awesome camerawork during their talk as the sun went down. Their conversation amped up the momentum and got me interested again. Looks like the White House is in trouble next week.

I bet Jack gets to nail Walker before too long, granted, it may occur after the time-frame of this season.

^ I guess it would have to. I was trying to figure out how they'd work it in.

^^I was thinking old Jake is going to blow up both the US President AND the Federation President...maybe Coto and Braga can whip up a subspace inversion next week to let Annorax in on the action too.

Another episode where I didn't really feel the need to post in this thread. It was just there really, even though there were two outstanding moments in this one. The scene with Jack and Renee (I read this thread and being on the west Coast I always ask myself who the hell these people are you mention and if I'm watching the same show. :shifty: ) bringing out Jack's human side reminded me really of the scene when Jack was forced to Kill Chappelle. I know that was season 3 and there probably were other emotional moments, but that was the first I thought of, which probably speaks to the lack of bringing out the human side of the equation of drama on this show. The other scene was Tony and Jack's talk on the steps, even though I knew the Target would be the White House right away. Another instance of 24 being kinda predictable.

That was pretty much it. I wish someone would shoot Sean in the head, and I'm glad to see Kurtwood Smith and the senate hearings back into the fold. Like I said earlier, I have a feeling the plot is really going to get going.

I also thought that this episode was a major step up. Lots more suspense and intrigue. Plus action to go with it.

Unfortunately Aaron Pierce disappeared once again...

Coming up with nicknames for the various characters is a long, old, tradition in these 24 threads. I've no idea how or why it started but I suspect it's connected to Stupid Kim. ;)

Maybe it was just me... but something felt kind of off about the conversation between Tony and Jack.

It almost felt like it was lifted from the script of a video game or something where you the player then need to decide if you'll go meet the NPC you just talked to. After loading up on supplies and stuff at the shop before continuing your adventure.

I must say, "Chloe made backups" was one of the best twists 24 has done in a long time. It's gotten to the point where the bad guys not thwarting every lead is a twist!
