Seeing as how the movie has rekindled my interest in old XF episodes, I was watching seasons one and two, I was amazed by how scary some episodes were, especially since we have had a wave of gory films lately, but none of those schlock-fests have been as mentally stimulating as those old XF horror stories.

I am thinking of ICE, IRRESTISTIBLE, DIE HAND DIE VERLETZT, and then later on, episodes like HOME.

What are some of your favorite scary episodes of XF?

I'm sure everyone will go on about Home, but I would also say Die Hand Die Verletzt from Season 2
    Scary teachers!

I never followed the series much, but the one with the Chupacabra and the one with the giant underground fungus were fairly creepy.

Some good ones already mentioned, but I always found Calusari to be pretty unnerving as well.

Man, that episode scared the bejesus out of me when I first saw it. I HATED the sound his little cart made.

^ Did you mean Darkness Falls? That one sticks in my mind too as a genuinely scary episode.

‘Home’ wasn’t so much scary to me as much as it was highly DISTURBING, with a capital ‘D’.

That's right, Theef was a great one.

And I agree that Home wasn't scary so much as disturbing. Good episode, though.

The snake one. I can't recall the name ("Signs and Numbers" maybe). Not so much that it was scary, per say. But damn, I have an irrational fear of snakes.

I think it was called Fire? It gave me the creeps for ages, but I was sufficiently hooked to keep watching week after week anyways!

Ice is pretty scary. And Mulder and Scully come dangerously close to the end in Darkness Falls. Both of those are from season one, IIRC.
