Honestly, even with her this show strains my tolerance levels.

C'mon guys, there was a new episode. Where is all the in-depth discussion?

So many interesting things to discuss. Junior has a new gf that he's holding in his rape.... err... my bad, his consent dungeon. Murdering teenagers based on vague hunches has apparently gone out of style in favor of new, even vaguer hunches. Buff hipster hacker guy has made it into the dome?!? Another welcome addition to the cast! Priest #2 disappeared for very logical reasons as I'm sure a very interesting and satisfying explanation is forthcoming.

Tough break about the cruise missile thing, Obama had no other choice but to hand over possibly the greatest discovery in human history to private military contractors, because indeed if there's one thing I know, here in America we fear our own military but hold PMCs in high esteem.

I'm just glad that everyone on the show except for that weasel Big Jim seems to agree that the people of Chester's Mill shouldn't all just leave before the death toll rises even further. Obviously you can't study the egg unless there are people in the dome, from the Evil Energy Company's perspective, and of course our plethora of protagonists are really on point with the idea that what really matters is the will of the dome. I mean, who wouldn't come to that conclusion?

My only regret this week is that we didn't get to spend a little time with the commoners at the Sweetbriar.

    Barbie has a sister.

As soon as it became clear tat they were both from Zenith, it became a possibility if the writers were hacks.

Why is the Smoke Monster from Lost hanging out underneath Chester's Mill?

I'm pretty sure this is just Lost all over again. The Smoke Monster is back, Melanie is Jacob and Brett Cullen is playing an evil person pretending to be good.

Last week we got the Smoke Monster and this week Melanie and Barbie are Under the Dome's version of Lost's Jack and Claire...they're siblings. Mind blown...........not!

Once again Big Jim starts an episode babbling about how the dome has changed him for the better and then ends the episode showing that he's still the selfish prick he's always been.

Yay Phil is dead. Another worthless character domed away again.

I am so into this show...not. While I have, for some unknown reason, watched every episode (I think), I have NO idea who the hell Phil is! Is he the guy is jail who so conveniently overheard Joe and Norri describe exactly where the portal to Zenith was (until it wasn't)?

And someone tell me, did Joe have a growth spurt (or two...or three) in the "two weeks" of this show?

    Yeah, that's him.

His character on the show has about zero to do with his character in the book, apart from being the radio DJ for about five minutes.

I don't know what it is that Stephen King thinks is so great about this show, unless he's just being supportive or has really bad taste for adaptations of his books.

The worse this is, the better his book seems.

The audience swelling around Under the Dome's celebrity are idiots (hello) so they will be floored by the book if they thought the show was amazing, and if they can read.

    Angie should have stayed dead.

Reminds me of Ken Follett and the World Without End miniseries, which was an absolute travesty of an adaptation. I think it may be part of signing the deal (in the contract for the rights of the series) where authors give it their full blessing and mention how proud they are of it, etc, for publicity purposes. In the end, I think they really have to grin and bear it while they really have no control over how it turns out (depending on how the deal is drawn out). There are a lot of parallels that I'm seeing. When WWE came out, he was saying he was so proud of it, that it was the greatest thing, that it had his full support. But by watching it, you had to wonder how he could even be proud of what you were seeing.

Yeah. I get the impression the writers want to write a show taking place over a much longer timeframe, but for some reason feel stuck in the one episode = one day rule. Like they watched 24 and thought to themselves "that is the way our show must be".

Not only are Julie and Barbie living together like a married couple after 2 weeks, he pronounces his love to her after one week! When she learned that Barbie killed her husband, her reaction was about as insane as Padme in AoTC. Not only does she not care he killed a man, the man is her husband! Any rational woman would be ditching Barbie in a heartbeat, or at least taking a long, long break.

So we have a show where grown adults pronounce their love for each other within a few weeks, and establish relationships so close that mariticide is immediately forgiven, grass regrows within a day of being obliterated, and a high school science teacher can perform feats of technical wonder using knowledge from many disparate fields. And that isn't even getting into the supernatural bits that don't make much sense.

The town has, within the course of a few weeks, had a water crisis, a caterpillar infestation, a crisis at a burning house, been bombed, had a food crisis, rained blood, had a near public hanging, several murders, been attacked by Magneto, and has gone through five sheriffs.

At this point I am watching only to see how absurd it can get!

Yeah. I noticed that as well.

He also became a Twitter celebrity within two weeks... without having an Internet connection! Amayzinng!!!!

I watch because Melanie is very pretty. Too bad her character is as interesting as toast.

This week's episode was a true tour de force for the show's (surely sizable) science consulting staff. I don't think it's possible for a show to portray the adiabatic process more perfectly than Under the Dome just did. Curse you dome for... dragging... all the...cold...air...from the top... down to.. the bottom... by...rotating....and...freezing our heroes...

What the frakk did they think that we thought pink stars are falling meant?

In Threshold the aliens sent data to Earth that "altered/upgraded" humans into something better that looked mostly the same... But eventually after 8 episodes, cancellation is a bitch, we find out it all been a humanitarian endeavour because a radiation wave was a couple years from hitting Earth that would melt all non altered humans.

These helpful aliens decided that Domes were the way to go to stop stellar matter from boiling humanity into a gas.

    GOOD FOR THEM!

I was actually wondering if Under the Dome could be unintentionally jiggered into a sequel to Threshold?

I love how everything went from snow globe to beautiful green fields again in about thirty seconds with no residual aftereffects from the freeze like dead grass.

Of course, given that Julia was up and around in five minutes after being impaled through the femoral artery and suffering from hypothermia and being treated in a hallway by a science teacher and a child murderer I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

Phil's probably fully recovered from being impaled through the heart and is at the bottom of the locker canyon shouting "Little help here! I'm actually sort of important in the book!"
