ComingSoon.net has received two new Star Trek posters from Paramount Pictures. One is of Eric Bana as Nero, and the second poster features Zoe Saldana as Uhura.
Femalefirst.co.uk reports that J.J. Abrams would like to see sequels to Star Trek XI. "I can tell you that I would love to see the family, the Enterprise that you get to see come together, what they do next," said Abrams. "They are so wonderful, the actors, and seeing them together in these roles is just so much fun that I think there is a sense of wanting to see what's next. With actors like Chris Pine signed up for three films, as reported by Screen Rant, the door is open for sequels if Star Trek XI is successful enough to warrant them.
Jonathan Frakes (Riker) is appearing at Boston's Super Megafest, according to Telegram.co., where he spoke about landing the role of Riker on Star Trek: The Next Generation. "I was not much of a sci-fi fan," said Frakes. "I had certainly heard of 'Star Trek' but I didn't know anything about the place it had in the popular culture,” Mr. Frakes said. “I know (Michael) Dorn (who played Lt. Commander Worf) was a big trekkie, and Wil Wheaton, (who played Wesley Crusher), obviously. But, for the rest of us, it was a gig. As it became successful, we realized that we really stepped into something, and it was a privilege to be part of the legacy and the family." Frakes had to interview seven times for his role. "I've often said, getting the job was harder than doing the job," said Frakes.
William Shatner has a short new video up at YouTube, which can be seen below, where he gives his opinion on the Star Trek XI version of the Enterprise. "To me, it looks very much like the old Enterprise, which is terrific," said Shatner. "It was a great design."

Unfortunately, my first thought when I saw the new Enterprise was that it looked pregnant. I'm trying to shake that first impression out of my head, but it's hard. I do want to like the new design and I don't want to rip it. Maybe it'll seem better to me after I see it in action.
I'm releaved to find that a lot of people do like it. Also, Shatner's stamp of approval means a lot to me in accepting it.
The design is okay, but I really don't understand the "need" to change it at all. The ship looked great in DS9's "Trials and Tribble-ations"---why not go with that?
