Shatner: Past And Present

A man of many projects, William Shatner takes on yet another one.

As reported by Broadcasting and Cable, Shatner will be the host of a new Animal Planet series about the lives of animals with unusual abilities and talents. Extraordinary Animals, narrated by Shatner, will debut on June 13, airing on Fridays at 9:30 P.M. Seventeen half hour episodes have been ordered. Samples of the show can be seen in the videos located here, which features segments on chimpanzees, parrots, dolphins, sea lions and other animals with special talents.

At seventy-seven, Shatner has had a long and varied career, as reviewed in a tongue-in cheek manner at UGO. Everything one would want to know about the man who portrayed both Captain Kirk and Denny Crane has been covered and not to be missed is the "Top Eleven Moments of William Shatner's Life", which is located here. The top eleven minutes include such gems as "singing 'Age of Aquarius' and 'Rocket Man'," "Covered in Tribbles," and "Being a Dick to Wil Wheaton". The full "William Shatner Spotlight" can be found by following this link.

Independent.ie has reviewed Shatner's latest book, Up Till Now. According to the reviewer, "What gives the book much wider appeal than you might expect is how little Kirk it contains." Up Till Now chronicles Kirk's Star Trek career as well as "The man's long and often eccentric non-Kirk career [which] makes for a winningly comprehensive guide to post-war show business."
