Star Trek XI News Bullets

  • As reported by TrekMovie.com, principal photography has wrapped for Star Trek XI after twenty weeks of filming. Work on the film will move to post-production; to the editors and to ILM, who will be working on visual effects for the film.

  • MSNBC reports that Tom Cruise visited the set of Star Trek XI recently. Cruise is reported to be friends with J.J. Abrams and is a Star Trek fan. A source reported that "He asked J.J. if there's a way he can meet Leonard Nimoy. He said he'd always really respected his work."

  • Several sites reported the recent rumor that a new Star Trek XI teaser trailer was to appear with the forthcoming Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. It turns out that this rumor was false, according to TrekMovie.com.

Apparently they've got him playing "Old Kirk" as there were no other actors available.

Yeah, because having Tom Cruise appear in Star Trek can only have negatives.

Reminds me of the horror movie nuts who thought casting a musician like Kelly Rowland in Freddy vs. Jason would "ruin" such a well-respected and acclaimed pair of franchises that are true indicators of an actor's craft.

I wonder if this means that Cruise is attempting to convert him to the Church of Scientology...

Uh, yes. Absolutely. He'd be a distraction at best. He shouldn't be in ST-XI for the same reason Ron Howard wouldn't give John Travolta a bit part in Apollo 13.
