Cho Finds 'Star Trek XI' A Bit Daunting

John Cho is about to find out that having a cult following from Star Trek is very different than the new one he has discovered from doing Harold & Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay.

As reported at MSNBC, playing Sulu in Star Trek XI will bring a new kind of pressure, if an email from a friend of a friend is any indication.

"I just wanted to impart to you how great a responsibility this is," said the friend of a friend, who went on to explain how important Star Trek was, explained Cho. "[He] went on for a while about how important it was and how 'Star Trek' changed his life and how it's responsible for everything good in his life. And he also went on to claim that ‘Star Trek’ is the predecessor to the iPod, cell phones and all that."

Cho found that a bit frightening. "So it is daunting, it's scary," he said. "Frankly, I'm not used to this kind of heat. Usually somebody asks, 'What are you working on next?' and you tell them the name of the project and they're like, 'What is it?' and you're like, 'Uh, two guys go to a hamburger place.' They're like, 'Yeah, right. Good luck with that.' And this is the first time everyone knows what I'm talking about."

Details about Star Trek have been kept secret, so Cho couldn't be specific about his work on the movie. "But it's been going great," he said. "What can I say except that it's really thrilling. There are a few dreams that you have when you're a little boy: It's cowboys and Indians, it's being on a spaceship. This is one of the great fantasies of my life."

If it weren't for Trek we never would've went to the Moon, and we'd all be speaking Russian.

BTW, WTF is an I-pod? That sounds like commie talk to me.
